JOHN A. SCHEPISI
President/MemberJohn A. Schepisi, is the Founder and President of Schepisi & McLaughlin, P.A., is a highly respected practitioner within the legal community. John has represented many large corporations over the years, such as CNBC, Home Depot and New Jersey’s largest utility contractor, J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc., while also representing small companies and individual clients.
John has been licensed to practice law since 1968 and is a member of the bars of the State of New Jersey and the State of New York. He is also admitted to practice before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as the Western, Southern and Eastern Districts of the U.S. District Court of New York.
John is also a Court-appointed Civil Mediator and is able to mediate all types of matters, from simple issues to more complex matters involving a variety of issues such as construction, financing disputes and the like.
John is a graduate of Steven’s Institute of Technology and earned his Juris Doctor degree from St. John’s University School of Law. While at St. John’s, John was a member of the University’s Law Review.
His education and training as an engineer prove invaluable to John’s real estate, litigation and zoning application practice. Not only is he able to analyze a set of plans, he is able to work with clients and their development teams in the design phase of real estate projects and provide input on their development. Assisting clients to acquire real estate, apply for zoning approvals, develop properties and market the finished product exemplifies the full range of services that Schepisi & McLaughlin, P.A. provides to developers.
John previously served as the Bergen County Republican Chairman and developed contacts in both the republican and democratic parties statewide. In his working through the state’s 21 counties, he comes to the table familiar with the area’s political arena. Having tried cases through New Jersey on the state and federal level, Schepisi & McLaughlin, P.A. has a familiar presence in courtrooms throughout the Garden State.
In the fall of 2007, John made front-page headlines in the New Jersey Law Journal for his ten-year battle on behalf of a hurricane-damaged property in the Netherlands Antilles. His persistence paid off: he successfully negotiated a $30 Million Dollar settlement on behalf of the unit owners.
John is a well-respected member within the community and contributes his time as a member of the Executive Board of Governors of Hackensack University Medical Center, a member of the Board of Trustees of Stevens Institute of Technology, a Member of Club 45, Boy Scouts of America and the 200 Club of Bergen County.
John is also a member of the American, New Jersey and Bergen County Bar Associations, as well as the American Association for Justice and has previously served as President of the Bergen County Bar Association.
